Re: Leaky Rotten Condos and Building Code Thanks for any help you can provide to the owners of leaky rotten condos. Did you know that the Federal Government continues to tax our misery by collecting the 7% GST on leaky condo repairs, materials, and professional services? We think taxing victims for the mistakes of others is wrong. You are quoted (National Post, June 16, 2000, p. A4) as stating: “Yes, it’s not our fault. It was the building codes, but we should still help.” Please provide us with any evidence you have to substantiate your statement that our leaky rotten homes were caused by the building code. We know that condos and single-family homes built in accordance with the building code shed water to the outside and prevent water from entering the wall assembly and interior rooms. We also know that forensic examinations of leaky rotten condos, in your riding and elsewhere, reveal multiple violations of the building code. We think you may have been misinformed by developer-builders who contributed to your campaign fund. Please help us get to the truth of the matter by sharing your information with us. Be wary of propaganda from developer-builders. Please examine COLCO’s Leaky Rotten Condo List.
Unfortunately it gets longer and longer as more families discover homes
have become leaky rotten nightmares. We need a compensation plan.
